Air source heat pump school cost per kW

Salix PSDS Phase 3 and 4 applications place installed ASHP capital in the £1,500 to £2,500 per kW range, with £2,000/kW a defensible midpoint for a secondary retrofit with district-style distribution upgrades. Primaries with hydraulic separation work commonly land at the lower end.

2026 anchor

Salix PSDS Phase 3 and 4 applications place installed ASHP capital in the £1,500 to £2,500 per kW range, with £2,000/kW a defensible midpoint for a secondary retrofit with district-style distribution upgrades. Primaries with hydraulic separation work commonly land at the lower end.

Heat-loss coefficient by age band

Pre-1919 stock typically presents at 95 W/m2; 1919-1944 at 85; 1945-1976 at 75; 1977-2000 at 55; post-2000 at 40. Multiply by GIA, multiply by an 0.85 utilisation factor, divide by 1,000 to size the ASHP in kW.

DNO upgrade contingency

Roughly one in three projects requires a DNO connection upgrade once ASHP plus solar load is added. Carry £30k to £150k as contingency; ENA lead times in 2026 commonly span 9 to 18 months.

PSDS comparator projects

Salix PSDS Phase 3 awards include multiple schools and FE colleges where ASHP CAPEX has been published as part of the grant offer record. Phase 4 retains the same scoring framework with refreshed payback gateways.
