Natural History GCSE timeline

DfE has committed to a Natural History GCSE; the first teaching cohort is signalled for the 2026-2027 academic year, with first examinations to follow.

National Education Nature Park

All schools, colleges and nurseries can participate. The Nature Park provides curriculum resources, biodiversity mapping tools, and links to the Climate Education pillar of the CAP.

Teacher CPD cost

Climate-curriculum CPD costs £200 to £800 per teacher day, depending on provider. Most MATs budget £5k to £25k per school per year for the rollout window 2026-2028.
